ABOUT RADICAL & RESTORATIVE THERAPY
Radical & Restorative Therapy is a virtual-based mental health practice created by Kasie Holmes with the intention to provide a space that centers intersectionality and social justice as an inherent part of the therapeutic process. The Western mental health institution is a microcosm of society, which means it has been and continues to be an agent of the white supremacist, colonialistic, capitalistic, patriarchal, cishetornormative, neurotypical, and ableist society in which it exists. In other words, the mental health field has played an active role in systemic oppression whether it has been through exclusion, inaccessibility, pathologization, or outright bigotry.
As mental health clinicians, we have ethical obligations that require us to continuously check our biases, educate ourselves, and to ensure the safety of our clients while not inflicting harm on them. Full stop, we have historically fallen short of collectively putting this all into praxis. Radical & Restorative Therapy exists to challenge the norms of the mental health institution by providing inclusive, accessible, intersectional, and integrative care. This is accountability—albeit a drop in the ocean of accountability considering the harm inflicted on generations of marginalized communities. Nevertheless, it's a start. Feel free to contact R&R using the “Contact” tab at the top right corner of the page to ask us any questions or book an appointment. We also have information on the services and prices we offer as tabs located there.
In addition to social justice being an integral part of our mission, we pride ourselves in being a practice that was created by and for people with serious mental illness. To learn more about R&R's team, check out the “About The Team” section at the top of the page.
